Silver and Gold
December 31, 2011Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold.
A circle is round, it has no end. That’s how long, I will be your friend.
A fire burns bright, it warms the heart. We’ve been friends, from the very start.
You have one hand, I have the other. Put them together, we have each other.
Silver is precious, Gold is too. I am precious, and so are you.
You help me, and I’ll help you; and together we will see it through.
The sky is blue, the Earth is green. I can help to keep it clean.
Across the land, across the sea. Friends forever we will always be.
With special appreciation to the anonymous author of this timeless poem/song, I encourage you to both grow and maintain your networks in 2012. Just like hair must be groomed and a tree pruned in order to grow fuller, healthier and more vibrant, you must manage both sides of your network. Those with whom you have been acquainted – those with whom you would like to be. Reach out, follow up, follow through, drink a little Coffee, eat some Lunch… Repeat.
I toast to you, to 2011 and to 2012! Be cautious out there this evening (New Year’s Eve tends to be amateur night). Wherever you are in the world, Happy New Year! Cheers!
